Football season is just about underway!  Whether it is a club, college, high school or professional teams are practicing and getting ready for another exciting season.  My family loves to watch football. Of course football also means snacks, so to go along with our first game of the season I created this portable SNICKERS Pretzel Snack with cute little football bags.

Natasha’s favorite post came from Jayhawk Mommy with the post “Teaching My Toddlers Manners!”
Saying, “I am a stickler on manners with my son. It is very important to me that he is a mannerable young man – making sure he says Thank You, Yes please, You’re welcome, Bless you, etc. I definitely see that there is a lack of children being polite and mannerable, and growing up that was such an important factor with my grandparents and parents. Therefore, I want to encourage my son to do the same. Thanks for sharing this great post!”
      teaching-manners

My favorite post came from Jayhawk Mommy with the post “Teaching My Toddlers Manners!”
What a wonderful post! I see so many children that have long since passed the toddler stage, with absolutely no manners and no respect, and it saddens me greatly for the state of future generations. It makes me feel so wonderful, when my own children at 12, 14, & 21, still use the manners and respect that they have been taught since birth. Thank you so much for sharing!

When furnishing our garage turned family room, I knew I wanted a round table with some chairs in there.  This way the room could double as extra dining space as well, or as desk space.  I had my eye on the Weston Crank Bistro table from Arhaus furniture for a while.

I am not sure where I got them, but they have been painted many colors…here, you see them blue, with little red peaking through, with just a touch of rust too..beauties I tell you, beauties in the rough!
This idea for a poncho shirt has been swimming around in my brain for a while. I have a shirt from Charlotte Russe that is similar to these, but is not as long as I would like it to be. I looked at the basic construction of that shirt to come up with my plan for making these.  They are easy and fast to make, and oh-so versatile. I could see them with a cardigan over or a long sleeve under in the fall and winter. Enjoy!

      Lemon Brownies 7
I love getting a bag of lemons given to me, our wee tree is getting there but only have 3 lemons from it so far! The next decision is what to make with them. A few months ago Pinterest was full of Lemon Brownie recipes, I was intrigued – I am a little slow on the uptake but I finally made them today and they are delicious! Lovely lemony smell filling the house and a lovely fresh alternative to our decadent chocolate brownie you will find elsewhere on my blog.

Summer Makeup Favorites | My Life Well Loved
Alabama heat is no joke! It has felt like spring for most of the summer, but now that the true to

showcase my Favorite Summer Makeup. These products have been my saving grace this summer for some color and to cover any unwanted blemishes.
Hello my lovely friends, today lets climb one more step on sewing ladder and make a Tote bag with faux leather base. Are you as excited as I am? Then, lets do it!!! This post looks too lengthy because of explanation, but trust me its super simple to sew it.
You go one morning to check the garden for any ripe produce. There’s a zucchini there that is still a bit puny, but should be ready by the next day. You forget to check in the morning, but remember and look after dinner. It has gone from the size of a hot-dog to the size of your arm in less than 2 days! Yikes! What are you going to do with all that zucchini?!

      Plum Tart
I had peaches on my shopping list, because it is peach season. However, the ones I found did not look fresh or ripe, and had no smell to them. I am not sure what that is all about, but like a store-bought tomatoes there was no flavor. So what to do? I went through the market sniffing fruit. The plums I could smell and looked inviting so I brought home enough make a plum tart.

I’ve said this before, I’m not a big fan of coffee – with one exception though, frappes! They were very popular during my high school years back home in Romania (15 years ago!), especially during the summer time. This is when I pretty much fell in love with this delicious iced coffee drink.

My favorite post came from Organized Chaos with the post “What Makes Women Feel Beautiful!”
Such a beautiful post! Because of a great deal of negativity towards me, during my growing up years, it took me a long while to realize that I was beautiful on the inside, where it counts the most! I also realized that it is my husband and my kids who make me feel the most beautiful. When my kids tell me that I am the best mommy ever or when they come and tell me those things that have likely added to my gray hairs, I truly feel beautiful, because I know that they have complete trust in me.

Fresh, Fried Okra & Fresh, Fun Photos

      okra1redo

You might remember a TBT I posted a while back titled “Children of the Okra”.  It was an old post that I re-shared about an awful experience in the Okra Jungle, helping my dad.  I get chills just thinking about that day.  I swore, Yes I swore, I would never eat okra again, but somewhere between then and now the thoughts from that day became less frightening and Fried Okra starting sounding appealing again!

A few weeks ago my dad brought over a few bags of okra that had finally decided to produce.  Well, I certainly couldn’t pass it up so I decided to conquer my fear of okra and fry up some for dinner.  My family was extremely pleased that my fear of okra was gone, because they had been missing my Southern Fried Okra for sometime now!

I got to work right away cutting it up, bagging most for the freezer and saving a bowl for dinner.

      okra2

My okra batter is pretty basic.  But it sure is good ole southern amazing!

      What you need:

      1 cup corn meal

      1/2 flour

      1 tsp pepper

      1 tsp salt

      1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

      1 cup buttermilk

(0r 1 cup milk and 1 tbsp on vinegar, let set for appx 3 mins)

      2 eggs

      2 cups of cut okra

      okra3

      What you do:

Get your pan of oil hot and ready.  (I use a cast iron Dutch Oven Skillet)

Slightly whisk your cornmeal, flour, salt, and peppers together in bowl.

In a separate bowl mix your milk and eggs together.

Add appx 10 pieces of okra into egg/milk.

Using a metal spoon with holes, scoop up okra and let mixture drain for a second before adding to the dry mixture.

Completely cover in the dry mixture and add to hot oil.

Fry until golden brown and crispy!

Continue until all okra is fried.

You will LOVE this okra!  And to make it extra amazing, dip it in some good ole ranch!  Yummo!

Don’t get much better than this here is the South!

      Gourmet S'mores
Another chocolate recipe; no one is more surprised than I am, but when you find a fun recipe it needs to be memorized. It is really easy. Easy is my favorite kind of recipe. Since I can’t eat graham crackers or chocolate (they both contain soy), I felt compelled to write about my workaround. This recipe uses cocoa powder and I substituted gingersnaps for the graham cracker. I think they should be called Gourmet S’mores.

I’ve been kind of a skeptic of the “3-day Potty Training” methods everybody posts on Pinterest.  I mean really, who believes that you can undo a lifetime of diaper use in less than a week?  Well, it turns out that toddlers are smart cookies.

      DIY Ribbon Organizer Tote

This ribbon organizer tote is easy to make, inexpensive and stackable. We all know the importance of hydrating ourselves, but do you actually do it?  I know I don’t!  Water is so blah tasting, so why not spruce it up by infusing it with fruits and veggies.  I figured I would give it a try and if  nothing else, my kids would enjoy it.  Besides it looks so pretty, doesn’t it–kinda makes you want to drink it.  Here are 10 hydrating infused water recipes that look tasty and easy to do.

The secret to raw edge appliqué is this tool, the Applique Pressing Sheet.  For many years, I would arrange my web backed fabric pieces on their background and hold my breath and apply the iron.  Now I press my pattern pieces to this sheet and if I don’t like the way they look, I can lift them up and put them somewhere else.  This sheet is also perfect if you are following a raw edge appliqué pattern, like the one I used to make this Forget-Me-Not block.

Picture This: Enjoying Art, Nature and Getting "Summer Fit"!
This summer, I was invited to participate in Raise.com’s “Summer Fit” campaign.
I love to stay active during the summer so I was delighted to get involved with their
“Summer Fit” campaign.  I live in an urban environment, so finding a patch of green is especially satisfying for me.  Sure I belong to a great health club, but in the summer time I prefer to get my exercise
outside in the sun as much as possible.

Blogging has always been a hobby for me.  Well, “always” may not be the best term to describe my love affair with blogging.  When you think about it, blogging is a relatively new thing.  And I’ve only been at it for 8 years.  And it’s been pretty sporadic.  So scratch the first sentence of this blog post.  It’s a lie.

        Double Stuff Oreo Pancakes

I love pancakes! I especially love the weekends because those are my cheat days which means I can have my pancakes! All week long I’m thinking of sweet, sinful ways to prepare my pancakes. Oh yea, I LOVE my pancakes!

I’m always interested in trying out different sensory play activities with the boys, even something very simple can grab their attention and provide an opportunity to explore something new. To find out more about why sensory play is important you can read my previous post and also get some ideas for lots more materials to use.

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
        the passion that she knows.”

You all know how I love to make my own household goodies, this time I ventured into making my own deodorant. I looked online for months reading different posts, reading thoughts, reviews, whatever I could get my eyes on!
        Bite-Size Peach Turnovers
Sometimes, you just want a small bite of dessert.  When that happens, a small bite of peach turnover will solve the problem.  Sprinkle powdered sugar on top and you have yourself a winner.  Just think small when you’re baking.
I’m so excited to share with you all a little bit of my home today! One of the greatest joys about buying our very first house is being able to scan pinterest for some amazing design ideas!
        FriedGreenTomatoes final with words
Making them is super easy to do and it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg either. Here is my families favorite way to eat them. Just thought I would share so your family could enjoy them too.

“The phrase “Pura Vida” (pu·ra vi·da) means “pure life” in Spanish. Enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune and not taking anything for granted embodies the Pura Vida Lifestyle. It’s about being free and living life to it’s fullest with no regrets or taking anything for granted; it’s an attitude.”

        I Hear Angels Singing

I recently finished another large angel. I gave her an old world patina finish like I have my other angels but I think this one is my favorite so far. I even like her better than my last angel with the large wings.
